Winger grew up in Dubuque Iowa and played soccer competitively for the Dubuque soccer club. Winger was captain of his high school team for two years and recognized for his academic achievement, all conference honors, and recipient of Joel Ostola Memorial Scholarship, (2002). Winger attended The University of Northern Iowa where he obtained his masters degree in Community Leisure Programming, during his tenure he was a 4 year starter and helped lead the Panther’s Club Soccer program to back to back national tournament appearances. Outside of his work with the Cedar Valley Soccer Club Coach Winger also coaches the Northern University High School Girls Varsity program (7 years) and the UNI Men’s club team (3 years) where he recently lead them to a national championship appearance in Alabama 2009.
